Dr. Shyam Thomas

Postdoctoral Research Fellow

 

Dr. Shyam Thomas is a broadly trained ecologist with a general interest in understanding species distribution patterns across space and time. Much of his research involves developing ecological models using a combination of GIS tools and statistics towards finding solutions to real-world conservation problems, particularly prediction and management of invasive species. Past projects involved invasive plants (Purple loosestrife and Yellow bluestem) and insect pests (Asian citrus psyllid and European grapevine moth).

  • M.S. in Plant Ecology; Oklahoma State University
  • Ph.D in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology; Iowa State University.
