AIS Area of Interest

Dr. Kovalenko specializes in habitat complexity, aquatic invasive species, food web structure, and functional changes in response to anthropogenic stress as well as ecological statistics. She was an editor of two Hydrobiologia Special Issues on AIS and co-authored a recent review on this topic (Havel et al. 2015). Her invasive species work included food web effects of invasive macrophytes, community effects of invasive milfoil control, direct and indirect effects of invasive peacock bass, and community and ecosystem effects of Dreissena in the Great Lakes.
