Important announcement from MAISRC Director Susan Galatowitsch

Dear friends and partners of MAISRC,
I wanted to let you know that I have decided the time is right for me to pass the baton to the next leader of the Minnesota Aquatic Invasive Species Research Center. This is part of my commitment to addressing the need identified in our strategic plan of having a full-time researcher-director to fully commit his/her time and attention to the important work of aquatic invasive species and the Center.
I feel that with twenty research projects underway on ten high-priority species, our research needs assessment process established, and a phase two funding request submitted to LCCMR, we are in a good position for this transition to occur.
I have promised to help shepherd our new funding request through the process, and I will continue to be a staunch supporter of MAISRC, to assist in the transition, and will be available as a close advisor to the next director when that person is selected.
We have been working with the College of Food, Agricultural, and Natural Resource Sciences on a succession plan to occur by July 1, and are in the initial stages of implementing that plan. Yesterday, we received endorsement from our advisory board on a process to select the next director. Please stay tuned for more information coming shortly.
It has been a great honor to serve in the role of Director the last two years. With the strong foundation that has been laid, and with your continued help, the Center is positioned for a bold and impactful future under the helm of its next leader.
Best,
Dr. Susan Galatowitsch
Director, Minnesota Aquatic Invasive Species Research Center
Head, Department of Fisheries, Wildlife, and Conservation Biology
